Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 Raises PhP1.2M for Super Typhoon Haiyan Charity

CEBU, Philippines - Resorts World Manila, the first one-stop, nonstop tourist destination of the Philippines, has just witnessed the crowning of its stunning new brand ambassador. Through the Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 Final Runway held at Newport Performing Arts Theater last November 30, PhP1.2 million was raised for Super Typhoon Yolanda relief.

Nikita Pia McElroy, 19, bested 19 other hopefuls to win the prestigious title of Miss Resorts World Manila2013 in the two-hour world-class production that featured acrobats, mimes, and performances by "The Voice of the Philippines" first champion Mitoy Yonting and his band Draybers, power vocal trio Primo, and Jazz & classical crossover singer Fame Flores.

The fourth annual event was more than just a pageantry of eye candy. RWM seized the opportunity to extend its efforts in helping the survivors of the catastrophe brought about by the recent Super Typhoon Haiyan (Typhoon Yolanda). The contestants took a proactive role by roaming the property for two nights, selling tickets to the event and raising over PhP600,000-which RWM matched-bringing the total amount raised to PhP1.2 million. This was added to the collective RWM donation funds for the rebuilding of hard hit areas in the Visayas region.

As RWM's brand ambassador for the next year, Miss Resorts World Manila plays a key role in representing the integrated lifestyle hub in various events and activities including all corporate social responsibility initiatives. The Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 Final Runway was indeed a celebration of beauty, congeniality, luxury, elegance and charity. (FREEMAN)
