SUKNA marked Press Freedom Month

The Sugbuanong Komentaristang Nagpakabana (SUKNA), Inc., a group of concerned Cebuano commentators, celebrated in their own way the Cebu Press Freedom Month for the whole month of September. The opening salvo was celebrated with a dinner party at the now famous floating restaurant in the town of Cordova and hosted by Board Member Arleigh Jay Sitoy who was past president of SUKNA. Supporting the affair was the father of Arleigh, Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy, who is also a long time SUKNA member.

Two very sentimental parts of the celebration was the Holy Mass and the wreath-laying on the marker of the late Jojo dela Victoria who was the Secretary of SUKNA at the time of his death. Jojo was assassinated seven years ago right in front of his house in Talisay, and that is where a SUKNA marker was placed, and until now, the fallen colleague is still remembered by the SUKNA members every year. On September 30, the culmination of the celebration was held at the Legislative Building hosted again by Board Arleigh Sitoy. The guest speakers during the culmination night were former Rep. Tommy Osmeña and Board Arleigh Sitoy himself.
