Tiaw- Tiaw nga urom

CEBU, Philippines - There's a bold and stealthy quality nestled within the artistic repertoire of Jethro Estimo, a quality that takes center stage in Tiaw-Tiaw Nga Urom, the artist's third solo exhibition.

Celebrating its opening last October 19 in the Bluewater Gallery of the Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort, Tiaw-Tiaw Nga Urom gathers close to 150 digital illustrations and paintings made by Estimo, each embraced by a vast mélange of life's subjects and themes, focusing on the surreal narratives and dreamscapes constantly happening in the artist's creative eye.

From treading on memories that speak of avenged wounds to giving due emphasis to the madrigals of life's parodies and paradoxes, each of the show's presented works took an average of 30 minutes for Estimo to complete, with its overall execution covering a period of seven months.

With each of its presented pieces crafted and carefully rendered by Estimo before going to sleep, Tiaw-Tiaw Nga Urom's showcased works are born from an exercise which the artist imposed on himself - a testament to his adamant desire in being constant and consistent in the creation of works.

Doing away with the pretenses often met and banded with the arts, Tiaw-Tiaw Nga Urom manages to be profound in its creatively elemental inclinations, dramatically pointing to Estimo's witty persona as a visual creator - from his take on how social commentaries should be, to his search for the meaning of purpose in the purpose of meaning.

In its entirety, Tiaw-Tiaw Nga Urom goes beyond showcasing the creative capacities of one of Cebu's creative talents, exemplifying and readily noting that art can be light, dark and every shade in between.

Tiaw-Tiaw Nga Urom will be on exhibit until November 9, 2013 in the Bluewater Gallery, Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort, Buyong Maribago, Lapu-lapu City.
