Last year, when Glenna Royo Parrilla was in Cebu (she is a resident of Toronto, Canada), she met with members of her family… mostly her siblings, and they decided that in 2013, the big Royo family will have a reunion.
So last June 2013, children and grandchildren of Emigdio Royo Sr. and Guadalupe Royo started to arrive from the different parts of the world. Emigdio Jr. and Malou from California, USA; Glenna and Raul (Dennis) Parilla from Toronto, Canada; Ruby and Rhonie from Arabia; Mona and Jesus from Manila; and the rest of the siblings Allan and Zeny, Irene and Angelo, Ferdie and Estela from other parts of Cebu.
The three-day reunion started with a Thanksgiving Mass and “getting to know each other†celebrated by Fr. Soc Saldua…then lunch and games held at the IPI Sports Complex. The next day, the clan had real bonding and camaraderie while spending the whole day of fun and laughter, plus swimming and games galore with prizes at the Portofino Beach Resort in Mactan.
Before the group could say goodbye, dinner, singing and picture taking took place in one of the restos uptown. The Royo family had the most memorable reunion they ever had in their lifetime…an affair they will always remember!

In town for a month-long visit with relatives, like Girlie de Guia, was a practicing dentist in West Covina, California, Dr. Juan de Guia. During his short visit, he took time to visit relatives in Barili, home of the Lozadas, and also went to Dumaguete where the de Guias have a lot of properties. Jun left back to CA where he stayed for the last 20 years now.
