CEBU, Philippines - Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino congratulates Executive Chef Simon Sperling for being chosen to join a select group of professional photographers behind the creative success of Flickr Collection on Getty Images.

Universally known for creating and distributing royalty-free stock photography, Getty Images aims to bridge photographers with commercial needs by collaborating with Flickr, one of the largest photo-sharing communities online.

Having joined Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in July 2012, Chef Simon continuously wows friends and colleagues as he extends creativity beyond the culinary.

Initially a hobby in the early 80s with his primary Nikon F301, Chef Simon’s passion for photography deepened with his desire to share pictures of his travels and gastronomic creations. Curious about what similar equipment had to offer, his collection of impressive snapshots multiplied with the additions of the Praktica MTL50, Vivitar MF-2 Super and the Canon Powershot G7, along with numerous point and shoot cameras.

A believer in the wonders of instinctive captures, the German-born Leo never leaves home without his Nikon D90, taking photos of everything from his deliciously prepared dishes to Cebu’s intriguing side streets and alleys. When asked why he prefers Nikon, the six-foot-four-inch tall Chef simply says “it feels and looks better to me.” Often referred to as “the Mac” of cameras, Nikon is recurrently favored for its 39 focus points and ability to perform better in low light conditions.

A workaholic with an infinite thirst for knowledge and a collective circle of over 10,000 followers, Chef Simon continues to hone his social and digital smarts by managing several Wordpress blogs and posting regular updates on his Tumblr, Flickr and Twitter accounts.
