Frunie Alerre, now Mrs. Hughets, was in Cebu for more than three months, enjoying every minute of her stay here…just as she wanted. Her daughter, Evita Sagardui Ngo was at her beck and call to fill in for the years they have not been together. Evita, by the way, is presently teaching at the USPF, at the same time finishing her masteral in Education.
Thirty years ago, when Frunie was still in Cebu, she taught PE at the USP and USC since she is a graduate of a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Silliman University. While doing her teaching job in two universities, being a popular singer then, she joined the “William Lines MidDay Serenade†for five years. She was with the mainstays, the late Josie Lauron, Lily Montecillo, Josephine Ferrer and many others. Interestingly, she was featured in the Visayan movies “Ungo sa Parian†and “Remember Erlinda†with stars Dindo Fernando, Tommy Abuel and Alicia Alonzo, and with Jess Vestil in “Bulawan sa Lapokâ€. Now, back to her place in Indianapolis, Frunie will resume her job as a Licensed Cosmetologist.

Another friend, Tricia Capoy, now a resident of Sta. Rosa, San Francisco, California was in Cebu recently and was greatly impressed with all the high rise buildings at the Cebu Business Park in Ayala. She has not been here for years, the reason she was awe-struck. Tricia also went to Bohol and Bantayan Island, and before she left for her home in the US, a dear friend, Linda Du, hosted lunch for her at Kuya J where she loved the house’s specialty – Catfish!

Before she left for her second home in New Jersey, Susan Calero treated her friends to a lovely lunch at Oh Georg along Banilad row. To Susan, it was a “thank you†treat for Fr. Ernesto Javier, SJ who officiated in the marriage of her daughter Coleen Grace to Niño Suñaz last January 7. Susan, a nurse, is now working in one of the hospitals in Jersey City, USA.
