CEBU, Philippines - The most comforting word that any visitor would want to hear is “welcome,†and that is the reason why when couple Bruce and Rhea Concepcion decided to embrace the hospitality business, they decided that it would be known by this simple yet meaningful greeting.
“We, Filipinos, are known for our hospitality, and ‘welcome’ best represents that culture of hospitality, in fact, if we directly translate this to Cebuano, it would be ‘dayon’ which is always our greeting to our visitors,†said Bruce.
The “eclectic†design, as what Bruce’s architect would describe the building’s concept, generously mixes the luxurious details of European architecture with the comfortable contemporary geometric shapes of modern design, exuding two of the qualities that the hotel wishes its guests would experience – luxury and comfort.
“We travel a lot, and I always wanted to replicate here what I see during these travels,†he said.
Bruce said that the architecture of the hotel is mostly inspired by the buildings of San Francisco, California in the US.
“Most of their hotels there, even small ones, have balconies if not large windows, and the experience you get with these is really different as opposed to many rooms here with just the walls or with a small windows,†he said, that is why for WellCome, he wanted his guests to also experience the relaxed atmosphere that this small detail welcomes.
Currently, the hotel has 36 rooms, but by June, all 68 rooms will be ready for occupancy. He admitted that the hotel is always a work in progress, adding that they had plans which were later on amended to accommodate even better amenities.
Come June, just in time for the hotel’s grand launching, the luxurious French salon Franck Provost will also be opening at the hotel’s lobby.
As if that is not enough luxury, several other amenities will complement the hotel’s welcoming ambiance, including a coffee shop, also at the lobby; Yolee’s, a restaurant that serves home-cooked meals at the second floor; an infinity pool that’s truly a hit for kids; a fitness center at the roof deck; and function rooms that offers the best venue for parties and gatherings.
“We are very hands-on here,†said Bruce, adding that their constant presence at the hotel ensures guests that their every need would be accommodated and addressed immediately.
“What we offer is a balance between personalized service and high standards,†he said.
