CEBU, Philippines - Last February 24, Sunday, marked another first for Citigym and this time also another first for Cebu as more than 200 people came to the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino to celebrate World Yoga Day 2013 by doing two hours of yoga simultaneously with all other people around the world.
At exactly 11am, together with the rest of the world, everyone present became one, looked within, stood firm for rights of fellow humans, opened themselves and poured out their hearts and souls to practice yoga.
The two-hour sequence flow led by Pascale Wettstein, Jen Martinez, Jean Torrefranca, Bernadette Pacaña, Veer Raña, and Anne Manubag of Citigym had the crowd engaged in salutes, stands, back bends, twists, meditation, and pranayama. All barriers were broken during the two-hour period as everyone fought like brave warriors, surrendered to the inner peace, found the light within and became one in that Divine Light.
To conclude the day’s event, there was Flow Fun for everyone. Phiras Baasiri of Vegan’s Guild introduced the flavors of his vegetarian burgers and black rice salad while others had free samples of Sugar Cane “Tubo†Juice. Bernadette Uy of Cebu Hoopaholics also entertained the crowd with Poi and Hoop dance demonstrations.
The event proved to be a wonderful journey of unifying the mind, body, and spirit through yoga. All those who came – a wide mix of attendees from different age groups and fields — claimed to have thoroughly enjoyed and summed it up as a Sunday well spent for a good cause.
