CEBU, Philippines - Turquoise and lime took over last year's traditional red-and-gold color combination. Although there is nothing wrong with the classic, Mr. Alfred Portenschlager, the General Manager of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, wanted to twist some things up a little bit. Of course, Country Classics helped in creating magic at the hotel.
The Harmonic Overtone Choir kept the Grand Lobby alive with their soulful renditions of "Joy to the World", "Silent Night", and "Noel," to name a few.
In strengthening their corporate social responsibility, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino has chose to help one of Cebu's public hospitals, the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), particularly their Psychiatric ward. Dr. Celia Mabalatan, VSMMC's Chief of the Training and Research Division, gratefully received their early Christmas gift from the company.
"We're not saying that [our donation] is lavish, but it's something that they will really need," Ms. Naomi Verdan-Agua, Marketing Communications Head, told The FREEMAN as she enumerated new bed sheets, pillows, and pillowcases as some of the things the ward can buy with the donation.
Mr. Portenschlager is fond of classical art, that is why Balletcenter Cebu was a new offer this year compared to past years' usual choir performances. The dance group rendered two performances from the Nutcracker Ballet: "The Dance of the Snowflakes and "The Nutcracker pas de deux", and ended with the tree fully lighted. The Grand Lobby was bursting with colors and life, and one just could not disregard the wintry look of the Gourmet Walk. (FREEMAN)
