CEBU, Philippines — The kids of Minglanilla are ready for in-person classes, thanks to The Clash Season 1 Grand Champion and Kapuso talent Golden Cañedo who shared her good fortune by handing out school bags and school supplies to elementary and kindergarten students from Ward 2 and Cadulawan, Minglanilla Cebu last July 30.
According to Golden, as gradual face-to-face classes are pushing through, she wants to help and ease the situation of parents who are faced with expenses for their children’s school needs.
Golden, who is also from Minglanilla, wants to set an example to the young ones for them to mature while embodying generosity and allocating their blessings to the less fortunate.
Aside from Minglanilla, she also visited the children of Maguikay, Mandaue City last July 29. As of now, 500 kids have received goods from Golden.
Since she is already venturing into the world of business with her non-showbiz boyfriend of three years, Martin Raval, she felt the need to share her blessings. The couple are handling not just one but two businesses: Golden Martin Productions and GM Services.
Golden Martin Productions is into producing concerts. Ylona Garcia, Martin Nievera, and AiAi Delas Alas are just some of the artists whose shows they’ve produced.
As an aspiring medical practitioner, Golden is also managing GM Services, a processing company that offers services for nurses such as the NCLEX RN Exam, Score Transfers, License Renewals, and Visa Screen Processing. This is an initiative to help Filipino nurses work abroad.
Golden also shared how healthy her relationship with Martin is, as both of them have the same mindset and goals, one of which is to share their gifts.
The 20-year-old singer’s fans, meanwhile, have been eager for Golden to return to television variety show “All-Out Sundays” after she chose to return in Cebu despite an ongoing contract with GMA Network.
The start of the pandemic allowed Golden to reflect, making her opt to focus on school on school for now. She is currently taking up Nursing at the University of Visayas.
“I realized that I want to concentrate on my studies. My goal is to finish my course that’s why I chose to prioritize my studies first,” Golden told The FREEMAN.
The singer said that it is difficult for her to juggle college and work compared to when she was in senior high school.
Aside from taking a break to concentrate on her academics, Golden shared that she also chose to move to Cebu due to the stress from her workload which gave her anxiety to the point that sleeping paralysis frequently visited her at night.
“It’s been three years since I started as an artist. There are other reasons why I chose to take a break. One is I got sick, and my mental health was not stable already. My environment was not healthy anymore, so my family and I decided that we seek peace.”
Her followers have also been wondering she has been inactive on Instagram recently. According to Golden, she chose to limit her social media posts for now because of bashers who leave rude comments about her career.
“Unlike other artists, I read mean comments. I reflect on them and ask myself if their sentiments about me are true, or if I can gain lessons from them,” she explained. “Sometimes I get hurt because what they say is already below the belt, but I take them as a motivation to prove to them that they’re wrong about me.”
On releasing new songs, Golden said, “I play the instrument, so I have hidden songs that I have not released yet. I have plans to publicize them but of course I have to find guidance first.”
Even with Golden’s temporary absence on television, she makes sure to give good fan service through her YouTube channel where she covers songs and gives a glimpse of her day-to-day life.
