Another acting piece for Allen Dizon in ‘Abe-Nida’
Making a comeback after being sidelined by the pandemic is Baby Go’s BG Productions International and their newest offering is Luisito Ignacio’s passion project about a sculptor titled “Abe-Nida.”
Playing the male lead in the film is Allen Dizon, who has 44 acting awards to his name, from local and international critics. Direk Louie said he only had Allen in mind in the role of Abe, that’s why it took him eight years to film “Abe-Nida.” The actor was busy with numerous films but Direk Louie patiently waited for his availability.
The actor is flattered that Direk Louie had him in mind and would not take no for an answer. “I guess I am just lucky to get good roles. I am not the type of actor who’d say I’d like this role for my next film or this is my dream role. I believe I am just fortunate to be offered interesting roles that challenge me,” said Allen during a recent press conference.
“I am still clueless as to what kind of role Abe is but Direk Louie said he wants to challenge me to give my best in the role of an artist (sculptor) who has a mental condition. I know he’s kind of crazy but this is a rare chance for me to play a character who has a mental condition.”
Katrina Halili, on the other hand, is very excited as she is playing a dual role. This is her biggest movie break and what adds to her excitement is the chance to act opposite Allen. “I know he has a lot of acting awards but I am not expecting anything. I just want to do my role well,” the Kapuso actress said.
Aside from Allen and Katrina, lending their stellar presence to the film scripted by Ralston Jover are topnotch directors Ms. Laurice Guillen and Joel Lamangan.
“If you work with directors, it’s just like working with professional actors. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with two master directors. I told my line producer Dennis Evangelista to take a picture of me while directing the two awesome directors because this is a once in of lifetime experience,” he said.
But Direk Louie is constantly telling himself not to be overwhelmed by the presence pf Direk Laurice, who plays Allen’s aunt, while Direk Joel plays a priest.
“I will always remind myself not to be overwhelmed by their seniority lest I will lose focus. I should always bear in mind that my objective is to create a beautiful movie and not be scared of my two directors acting out a scene. I should not be scared of them because that’s what they hope will happen. I will try to compose myself and not be overtaken by excitement.”
Direk Louie is ecstatic that his eight-year-old passion project is coming to fruition soon.

Now streaming in www.heypogi.com is “Daddy Love,” the first BL movie of aspiring actor Rex Lantano. This is his first lead role and his first BL film as well. It was also the first time he did a kissing scene, and with a male actor, at that.
In a chat, we remember Rex told Star Circuit that the role was offered to him in a jiffy. He rued he was not able to prepare physically. “I have scenes half-naked from waist up since I play a masseur. Nakakahiya if I have love handles.”
“Daddy Love” tackles not only May-December gay romance but also HIV awareness which people might be forgetting since everyone is concerned with the Covid-19 virus.
Rex was challenged by the role and he credits his director Monti Parungao who helped him out when he felt he was not doing a good job, acting-wise.
While waiting for a new acting assignment, Rex is helping his family run their newly-opened family business, the Lola Mame Restaurant in Taguig.
