Ian Veneracion guarantees a good time in his first concert

Award-winning actor Ian Veneracion will take another challenge when he attempts to become a singer via his first concert titled “Ian In 3 Acts” to be staged April 21, 8 p.m. at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

In the concert’s media conference held last week, Ian said he is excited to do the concert which will also be staged at the Newport Performing Theater of Resorts World Manila next month.

“I am not nervous with the performance part. I am ready for it. I am gung-ho. I want the concert to be held tomorrow if possible. But at the same time, I am also wondering if people will buy tickets and watch me perform,” the actor said.

What he can promise is that he has a lot to share in terms of music.

“Just give me a chance and I guarantee you a good time. I am comfortable with my performance. I can’t blame people if some will be skeptical. They might think I am just one of those actors who is pretending to be a singer. I can’t blame them for thinking that way,” he added.

He will be singing songs popularized by Joe Cocker, Cat Stevens, Christopher Cross, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, and one of Sting’s favorite songs, “Englishman in New York.”

“I love the song so much because I am like an alien when it comes to the world of singing. Everything is new to me. From TV and movies, I am being led to the concert stage so I’m like a British man who suddenly finds himself transported to New York. It is exhilarating and exciting.”

“Ian In 3 Acts” is special for the actor. “It takes a lot of confidence to do this in public. It’s personal to me. It’s my music and how I want it done. This is not just the pa-cute side of me. What they will hear is my artist side in music. Even if I will be doing covers, I will give it my own stamp.”

Also joining Ian as a featured artist is upcoming singer LA Santos, who had been impressing people with his talent.

So Ian was asked, does he sing in the shower? “Yes, I do sing in the shower. I guess every one of us does that,” he said with a laugh.

So what songs does he sing in the shower? “Whatever tune I have in my head before I enter the bathroom. But mostly love songs. Sometimes I mimic the sound of the bass guitar.”

What song will Ian sing for his leading ladies?

Iza Calzado: “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker.

Bea Alonzo: “I made a song for her. It’s in my phone but she hasn’t heard it yet. I will just reveal the title once she has heard it.”

Angelica Panganiban: It should be a song that is kind of crazy so “Nothing Compares To You” by Sinead O’Conner fits her.

Jodi Sta. Maria: “My One and Only Love” by Sting. It’s a classy song, kind of old school jazz number.

For his wife, Pam: “I Miss You The Most,” a song I wrote as birthday gift to her.
