CEBU, Philippines – Robin Padilla surrendered four rifles to the Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosive Office in Camp Crame on Friday because his gun license had expired.
The actor, 45, turned over two Colt 5.56 caliber rifles, an M1 Garand 7.62 mm rifle, and a Winchester .30 rifle for safekeeping, pending the renewal of his license.
His lawyer, Philip Jurado, explained that Padilla expects to reclaim the rifles once his license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF) is restored.
Meanwhile, Padilla criticized the leadership of the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) following the discovery of a huge stash of recycled firearms inside the prison compound where he served two years for illegal possession of firearms and converted to Islam in the late 1990s.
He said that the NBP was cleansed during the time that he was incarcerated there with then NBP Director Vicente Vinarao at the helm.
“Nalinis na ito noong panahon ni Vinarao pero naibalik ang mga kababalaghan sa loob ng NBP dahil sa palpak na pamamalakad,” Padilla told reporters in Camp Crame. – InterAksyon.com
