‘God Gave Me You’ singer announces Philippine tour
CEBU, Philippines – “To all my Filipino fans, thank you so much for the support. It means so much to me. We are coming to see you very soon!!!! Can’t wait to see you! #GGMY #AlDubNextChapter.”
That was the tweet and Facebook post of American country music star Bryan White on Tuesday. And so he has heeded the clamor of AlDub fans for him to visit the Philippines and perform here.
Although an established country artist in the U.S. who scored a string of hits from 1994 to 1999, the 41-year-old Oklahoma native is best known in the Philippines for the 1999 hit ballad “God Gave Me You,” which became a staple of mellow music stations like WRock and a favorite at karaoke bars years after it was first released.
The song was given a new lease on life when it was revived for the “Kalyeserye” portion of noontime show “Eat Bulaga” and became one of the “theme songs” of the AlDub split-screen love team of actor Alden Richards and dubsmash sensation Maine Mendoza a.k.a. Yaya Dub.
“God Gave Me You” was recently used in one of two TV commercials of AlDub for the Talk N’ Text Extend promo that also introduced AlDub as the new TNT Katropa.
Shortly after the revival of the song, AlDub fans started interacting with Bryan on his social media pages and explained to him how his song got its renewed popularity, prompting the singer-songwriter to upload a now viral video last Saturday where he revealed that he will soon come over to perform here as he and his team are actually working on a tour for the Philippines.
The video immediately went viral and to date has over 215,000 views, 11,000 plus likes and more than 4,000 shares on Facebook.
Bryan’s latest post, which accompanied a photo of him with a fan sign of the hashtags #GGMY and #AlDubYouAll, now has over 7,000 Facebook likes.
As expected, AlDub fans were ecstatic over Bryan’s announcement. – InterAksyon.com
