CEBU, Philippines - Travel to a galaxy far, far away to find this makeup collection, you will not.
Star Wars enthusiasts may have to wait until December for the franchise’s seventh installment to hit theaters, but in the meantime, fans of the force will have access to Covergirls’ Star Wars limited edition makeup collection. No Jedi mind tricks here—just a full line of lipsticks, mascaras and nail polishes all inspired by the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
In the spirit of delivering intergalactic-themed beauty, the brand also recruited to celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath—who also serves as the brand’s global creative design director—to whip up six separate Star Wars character looks using beauty goods from the new line (plus a few Covergirl classics already on the market). And if that name sounds familiar, then it’s probably because it is—she’s the famed makeup artist behind countless fashion shows and, Kim Kardashian’s luxe Cleopatra transformation.
Once again working her Jedi makeup magic, McGrath’s first two looks from the Star Wars beauty series are every bit as out-of-this-world as you’d expect. First up, the lustrous Droid style quite literally epitomizes the light side of the first, incorporating a full gold effect with shining metallic lips, created using Covergirl Star Wars Colorlicious Lipstick in gold.
Moving on over to the dark side, McGrath whipped up an edgy Stormtrooper look with fierce angular cat eyes and bold dark lips (made with the Colorlicious lipstick in dark purple) for a mystery-meets-menacing effect.
Wait for the rest of McGrath’s four other beauty looks, you must. But in the meantime, Star Wars beauty aficionados can get their hands on the Covergirl collection on September 4.
