Ryzza Mae proves versatility in ‘Bossing’ trilogy

- Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

Child actress and Eat Bulaga mainstay Ryzza Mae Dizon is indeed one talented young actress. And she has proven this anew as the lead actress in the trilogy “My Big Bossing” which had a red carpet premiere Monday, December 22, at SM Megamall Cinema 12.

Ryzza Mae stood out in all of her scenes. Whether she is doing drama, comedy or horror, the nine-year-old child actress showed her effectiveness as a performer. She has many comic scenes and managed to shine in them with her impeccable timing and witty punch lines. She and Vic Sotto have very good rapport.

The three-episode film features independent stories directed by three of the country’s foremost box-office directors. The scripts are well thought-out and meticulously dissected to treat its captured audience with stories that center on family values and wholesome fun, comedy and fantasy.

Ryzza is a big revelation in “My Big Bossings.” The nine-year-old actress is clearly the frontrunner for the coveted “Best Child Performer” award. Even if she had been praised for a good take, Ryzza would request for another take. “Mas okay po ang ‘very good take’ kaysa good take lang,” she would say. The movie features Ryzza doing three different characters, respectively, demonstrating, as early as now, her range as an actress.

Among the three episodes, we liked most the Prinsesa episode directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal. It has a very good story and used to the hilt Ryzza Mae’s talent in comedy.

The movie also had a beautiful production design which transformed us to the time of kings and queens. It looked as if the cast is really in a faraway kingdom. The way the production team transformed Paco Cemetery as part of the kingdom is really commendable.

Among the other actors, Sef Cadayona is a scene-stealer without meaning too in his role in the Prinsesa episode. Marian Rivera also did very well in the Taktak episode as the executive producer of Vic Sotto’s show “Instigador.”

Another film which we believe will become triumphant come the 2014 Metro Manila Filmfest Awards Night is “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” which we predict will figure prominently in the fight for best picture honors as well as the best actor trophy for its lead actor Robin Padilla.

Directed by Enzo Williams, the movie is well-crafted, has topnotch production values like the beautiful cinematography. True to the promise of its producers, they did not scrimp on the budget just to come up with a finely-crafted movie.

Robin should be a frontrunner for best actor award and should make it twice in a row after winning the best actor award last year for “10000 Hours.”
