UC Chorus celebrates 35 years

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Coliseum was filled with golden voices and heartwarming songs setting the mood of reminiscing past situations that embellish life’s good memories as University of Cebu celebrated its 35th founding anniversary in Timeless Rhymes and Harmonies.

Clusters from 1979-2014 united to commemorate 35 years of University of Cebu’s choir group headed by Raymund A. Abao and wife Helen Grace Abao, and family with the help of existing choir members in cooperation with different UC choir alumni groups, and of course, with the supportive Augusto W. Go and Candice G. Gotianuy.

Celebrated for three days last October 24-26, 2014, the event ended with the dinner concert and recognition day at Cebu Coliseum with beloved guests and family of UC Chorus, alumni, Augusto W. Go, Candice G. Gotianuy, and friends.

The University of Cebu Chorus reunion commemorated the event with exhibits of its history, dancing workshops, karaoke singing contest, film showing, zumba session and thanksgiving voluntary performances from the existing choir members and alumni clusters.

Different groups of alumni of the University of Cebu Choir who recently separated due to their commitment towards work and family showcased their talents in singing on the third day. They empower the minds of young people that the talent of harmony never fades though years have gone by. Enjoyment filled the hearts of every participant of the event as the talents sang their various award-winning pieces from event participations that made the University of Cebu choir popular.

The event was celebrated showing how each member has the passion and love of singing throughout the years even though they venture into a whole new world of field in their lives. It was a gathering full of harmony and love reminiscing the past after all instances of what they have become today. — Mae Mercader (FREEMAN)
