KC Concepcion plays third wheel to Coco-Kim tandem

- Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

Newly proclaimed FAMAS best actress KC Concepcion (for the movie “Boy Golden”) just renewed her contract with ABS-CBN for another two years. This should stop rumors that she is leaving the Kapamilya network.

Right after her stint in the Judy Ann Santos starrer “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” she was promised an acting assignment by Dreamscape Entertainment head Deo Endrinal via a new soap. It took quite a while before it materialized as KC decided to study abroad. Now that she’s back, Dreamscape promptly offered her a role in the second book of the top-rating series “Ikaw Lamang” which stars Coco Martin and Kim Chiu.

KC will reportedly play the third wheel in the love story of Coco and Kim. Julia Montes will be taken out of the series to prepare her for another assignment.

KC’s victory in FAMAS duplicated her triumph in the PMPC Star Awards where she also won as best actress for the Chito Roño film “Boy Golden” which starred her opposite ER Ejercito.

Director Wenn Deramas has no Twitter account that’s why he is wondering why the Noranians are ganging up on him and lambasting him on Twitter. He said he didn’t say anything against Nora Aunor that should earn the ire of her fans.

Direk Wenn is an avowed Noranian, an influence brought upon him by his late mother who would take the still young Wenn to watch movies of Nora. His growing up years included trips to cinemas to partake of Nora movies.

He even came to the defense of Nora over the issue of the National Artist snub done by PNoy and he himself believes that Ate Guy deserves to be given the award.

While he never gets to read the tweets, it was his friends who told him about it and he was really surprised why he is getting such flak from the fans of the Superstar.

“Wala akong sinasabing masama about Ate Guy,” Direk Wenn told us when we dropped by on the set of his latest movie “Maria Leonora Teresa” (which is incidentally the name of the doll that was given by Tirso Cruz III to Nora during their heydays in Sampaguita Pictures). “I don’t want to get stressed by them because I know that I did not badmouth Ate Guy but it is my friends who are bothered by the bashing.”

Instead of bashing him on Twitter, Direk Wenn is urging the fans of Ate Guy to support the movie “Hustisya” which will have its gala premiere at the Cinemalaya, happening at the CCP on August 2. “Dapat tiyakin nila (Noranians) na manonood sila para maging blockbuster ang movie ni Ate Guy at huwag itong langawin sa takilya.”

Instead of being stressed by his bashers, Direk Wenn would rather concentrate on his work. He is finishing “Maria Leonora Teresa,” his first horror film for Star Cinema and this excites him no end. He says it’s a challenge to do his first horror flick because Star Cinema is known in producing excellent horror movies like “Feng Shui” directed by Chito Roño.

“Siyempre blockbuster ang Feng Shui kaya nakakanerbyos din na sumabak sa paggawa ng isang horror flick pero nakaka-excite din at the same time kasi gusto mong gumawa ng isang project na magugustuhan ng mga tao,” said the five-time box-office director awardee of the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

He is also doing the sequel of “Moron Five and the Crying Ladies” which stars Luis Manzano, Marvin Agustin, Matteo Guidicelli, and John Lapus as the Crying Lady. He can now resume filming because his male cast members are now back from their respective trips abroad.

He would also like to start work on his filmfest entry “Praybeyt Benjamin,” starring Vice Ganda, before the ghost month sets in.

According to the FB page of Nora Aunor for National Artist, there are only few tickets left for the August 2 gala night “Hustisya” to be held at the CCP Main Theater.

We would like to advice fellow Noranians to secure their tickets from National Book Store and Ticketworld. In case they fail to get one, there is an earlier screening of “Hustisya” in Greenbelt Cinema 3 at 1:30 p.m and at Cinema 4 of Alabang Cinema also on August 2.

According to the box-office of CCP, tickets to “Hustisya” are much sought after. We hope that this will hold true for the duration of Cinemalaya from August 2 to 10.

We urge the fans of Ate Guy to support her movie. Be sure to buy tickets and make “Hustisya” a blockbuster.
