Cebuana wins Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Best in National Costume

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuana model Kris Tifanny Maslog Janson, 24, was named Best in National Costume in this year’s Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant, as revealed during Sunday night’s ABS-CBN primer titled “Binibining Pilipinas 2014 TV Special – Road to the Crown.”

Janson, crowned Miss Cebu in 2009, glided on stage in a white masterpiece by renowned Cebuano designer Cary Santiago. Made of silk organza, the Filipiniana gown featured a partially sheer skirt and patterns inspired by the sampaguita, the country’s national flower. “The dress is light and delicate and it symbolizes purity,” said Janson, who is Binibini candidate number 13.

The national costume parade was held March 6 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, along with a casual fashion show that had all 40 candidates parading in denim wear.

Wrote pageant blogger and former Bb. Pilipinas-Universe winner Joyce Burton-Titular of Janson’s winning aura that evening: “No, she is not a porcelain doll. Kris Tiffany Janson is definitely human and one of the prettiest faces to come out of Cebu in recent years. My seatmates and I could not take our eyes off her as she sailed down the stage twirling her parasol from time to time before a fawning audience. I wouldn’t be surprised if this financial analyst wins Best in Long Gown.”

Janson, who stands at 5’8”, is a graduate of BS Management Accounting from the University of San Carlos and is currently working as finance analyst of a multi-national company.

According to her profile in the official Bb. Pilipinas website, Janson is “very fun-loving, free-spirited and adventurous despite her serious job role. On her free time, she likes skim boarding, island hopping, travelling and trying out different cuisine.”

Her main inspiration for joining the pageant is her father who wanted to see her join a prestigious beauty pageant, before he died due to a heart attack. One of her best memories was a trip she took with her family before her father passed away, and in the future, she dreams of travelling at least half of the world.

The Bb. Pilipinas 2014 grand coronation night will be held on March 30. Special guests are Russian pop star Emin and reigning Miss Universe, Venezuela’s Maria Gabriela Isler. Stepping in as pageant hosts are Kapamilya stars Anne Curtis and Xian Lim.
