CEBU, Philippines - Beauty pageantry is like the new sport for women; it is an avenue where they can show off not only their looks and confidence but their intellectual prowess as well.

Level Eight Bar brings to life Miss LOHAS 2014 in cooperation with The Fashion House of Maria Elena. The pageant is a realization of Lohas Skin Clinic and Body Centre which started in 2008 with the aim of introducing fresh faces that will confidently represent the brand.

The official candidates were carefully chosen so as to give the best of beauties Cebu has to offer; from the top 40 aspiring young, vibrant and intelligent women, the candidates were trimmed down to 18.

“We received hundreds of applicants and we have carefully selected the candidates. We looked at their portfolio, we also consider the manner and attitude of the candidates; they also had their preliminary interview,” said Joseph Bontilao, the event’s marketing coordinator.

During the press conference held at Level Eight Bar, the candidates were asked who they thought were their strongest competitors. Most of them considered candidate number five, Maria Cassandra Yu, because according to them, she has had a lot of experience joining local and national pageants.

The Miss LOHAS 2014 finalists all looked noticeably fit, beautiful and ready for the coronation night. Their preparation included keeping themselves healthy through proper diet and exercise.

“Miss LOHAS is a prestigious pageant; it is about the skin, body and also the personality. You just need to know how to interact properly to other people,” said candidate number 17 Arrianne Manquiquis.

The coronation night will be held on Feb. 28, 8 p.m. at the Level Eight Bar of  ADNAMA Building, North Reclamation area. Big cash prizes await the winners: Miss LOHAS 2014 will receive a whopping P150,000 worth of cash; the first runner-up will receive P100,000; while the second runner-up will also receive P75,000.

Other fabulous prizes include a weekend stay at Bellevue Resort Bohol and Radisson Blu Hotel, a trip to Hong Kong and Macau, and Lohas treatments good for a year. All of these await the ambassadress of Lohas Skin Clinic and Body Centre.

Meanwhile, Level 8 and The Fashion House of Maria Elena are also organizing the Level Eight Singing Idol 2014, where 10 grand finalists will be vying to be the first champion of said contest. (FREEMAN)
