MANILA, Philippines - Independent record label 22 Tango Records releases another album, its third for the year 2013, with Ella Melendez’ full-length debut dubbed “When We’re Not Looking.†It features 11 all-original tracks written and composed by Melendez herself. The album was produced by singer-songwriter and music producer Cattski Espina and was recorded, mixed and mastered at 1032 Recording Studios.
Melendez, who used to co-own the legendary Kahayag Café in Mabolo, Cebu City, started writing the songs for the album early 2012 after a 30-year hiatus from songwriting. Originally from Manila, Melendez stopped writing songs at the age of 19. Although she has played in bands, one of which was the short-lived act called Wiccan that she shared with musician Zarah Smith, she never entertained the idea of songwriting. Fast forward to 2013, she now has a full-length album to share to the world.
“When We’re Not Looking†is a dynamic album that carries folk tunes with pop sensibilities. Rich in both music and lyrics, the album’s honesty is definitely refreshing and insightful -- an awesome listening experience. The album will finally be released this Nov. 29 with a musical event at the Gilt Artisan Lounge at the Crossroads Banilad. Supporting acts are Mother Folker, Mary Anchit and Snubear.
All acts will also be passing around a hat for some donations to raise funds for Typhoon Haiyan relief projects through Anonymous PH. Donations will help fund rebuilding efforts for northern Cebu.
The album will be available for digital download soon on iTunes USA and Amazon.
This year, 22 Tango Records also released Womb’s “Anesthesiac†and Martina San Diego’s “Blank Walls.†For more information, check out their fan page at facebook.com/22tangorecords. (PR) (FREEMAN)
