Among the members of the Gutierrez family, Richard Gutierrez is the most private that was why it was him whom his twin brother Raymond talked first regarding their family reality show “It Takes Guts to Be a Gutierrez.†Raymond did not have a hard time convincing his twin to agree in doing the show.
“I think it’s going to be good for the show,†said Richard. The Gutierrez family officially announced that they are going to do a reality show in a press conference held Nov. 7. The presscon was attended by the couple Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama, and their children, Richard, Raymond and Ruffa.
Richard said they are not afraid if people see what a typical day for them is like. “We have nothing to hide. We just work hard for the family,†said the former Kapuso star who said theirs is a typical Pinoy family. He said it would be exciting for the Pinoy audience to see the dynamics of their family, such as how they are like inside the house.
Aside from his parents and siblings, it is expected that the audience will be seeing in the show Sarah Lahbati, the actor’s girlfriend. “If I would share my life on camera, I would have to share my whole life and Sarah is part of that.†He said that the audience should not be surprised if ever Sarah would appear in the show once in a while.
Since the show will expose the life of the Gutierrez family, the press asked if there would be revelations in the program. Certainly, the audience would be eager if it’s true that Richard and Sarah has a child already.
“We’re not denying nor confirming,†he said, adding that sometimes the problem lies when some people tend to be a step ahead of the news. “I think it would be better if the confirmation would naturally come from us and not through insinuations from other people.â€
He said that people should just wait for what they are going to say about the matter. There are many things happening to him and Sarah’s life. He said there would be a perfect time for them to answer what the people have been waiting for them to say.
“It Takes Guts To Be A Gutierrez†will be shown next year in a network which the Gutierrezes have yet to reveal.

Ongoing at the Glorietta, Robinson’s and Trinoma Cinemas in Manila is the Cinema One Originals Festival which is now on its 9th year. It had its star-studded opening Nov. 10 at the Trinoma Mall.
Among those who attended the opening night were directors Elwood Perez, Mel Chionglo, Gil Portes, Alessandra de Rossi (one of the stars of festival entry “Woman of the Ruinsâ€), Alex Vincent Medina (who plays the role of a priest in another entry, “Angustiaâ€), Maria Isabel Lopez and her daughter Mara Lopez. Also gracing the event was National Artist for Literature, Bienvenido Lumbera, one of the founding members of the Manunuri.
Also lending stellar support was former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, the leading lady of Christopher de Leon in the classic Eddie Romero film “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?†which was the opening film of Cinema One Originals Festival. The event was hosted by Cesca Litton who mispronounced the title of “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon†even if she was reading from a cue card.
Before the screening started, a silent prayer was offered for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda. This was followed by a performance by the UP Concert Chorus who sang a medley of Tagalog movie theme songs like “Maalaala Mo Kaya,†“Galawgaw,†“O Ang Babae,†among others.
It was the first time we were able to watch “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon†in full and we marveled at the performance of a very young Christopher de Leon. If we are not mistaken, he won the FAMAS Best Actor for this movie. The movie was also very good and looks new, you wouldn’t believe it was 37 years old. The film, a Gawad Urian and FAMAS Best Picture awardee, was restored by ABS-CBN Archives.

Retail giant Bench brought Korean idol group star, Nichkhun, to Manila for a series of promotional events. The Thai-American heartthrob, famous for his role as singer and rapper of Korean boy group 2PM, was excited to finally meet his Filipino fans not as a singer or actor, but as a Global Benchsetter. He arrived Nov. 7 and met the Philippine media for an exclusive press conference at the Playground in Bench Tower, Bonifacio Global City on Nov. 8. He then met his fans up close in a series of Bench store visits at Trinoma and SM Mall of Asia on Nov. 9.
The global heartthrob is living proof of how one can best harness a synergy of cultures. He was born in California and educated in Thailand, New Zealand, and the United States, but it was Korea that changed his life. His rise to stardom began when he moved to Korea after he was scouted in Los Angeles by Korean producer Park Jin Young — the man behind one of Korea’s most successful music agencies and hits such as “Nobody†by the Wonder Girls. Fluent in Thai, English, and Korean, Nichkhun has cemented his place in the fast-growing world of K-Pop.
His skills in dancing, singing, rapping, modeling, and acting have elevated him to a spot in the limelight along with Korea’s brightest stars. His charisma onstage and onscreen is undeniable. He has appeared in a variety of Korean TV shows and even starred in movies shot in Japan, Thailand, and China. In addition to once serving as an ambassador for the Tourism Authority of Thailand, his global endorsements cover a wide range of products such as clothing, shoes, accessories, food, gadgets, and even cosmetics.
Last March, when he was in Manila for 2PM’s “What Time is it Global Tour,†the young star candidly answered questions from the Philippine press. He feels that his partnership with Bench is a perfect fit, because the clothing line reflects his unique sense of style.
As a member of 2PM—referred to as Korea’s “beastly idols,†for their strong masculine image—Nichkhun, strikes the perfect balance between pretty boy charm and a hunky, well-built physique. His ability to embrace different cultures and his fun, easy-going personality make him the perfect spokesperson for the globally expanding Bench brand.
