CEBU, Philippines - All roads tonight (July 13) lead to “Dreamland 2013†at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino where the biggest electronic dance music festival is taking place and where Grammy-Award winning DJ, musician and record producer Paul Van Dyk is set to bring a one-of-a-kind night life experience.
The German Van Dyk is acknowledged as one of the first true superstar DJs, being one of the first artists to receive a Grammy nomination in the newly added category of Best Dance/Electronic album for his 2004 release “Reflections.â€
Among his biggest sellers are Love Stimulation, 1998, New York City, For An Angel, Still Alive, Gimme More, A Magical Moment, White Lies, Time Of Our Lives, The Age Of Love and Flaming June.
He did remixes for mainstream superstars like Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.
He was twice named the world’s no. 1 DJ (2005 and 2006) and is the only DJ to hold a spot in the World’s Top 10 DJs since 1998. As of 2008, he has sold over five million albums worldwide.
Filipino DJs Marlon Orellano and Boyet Illustrisimo will front act this event presented by VIVA Concerts and Events South, Inc. and directed by Juno Oebanda.
“The theme is white, and the concept is to transform the entire grand ballroom into the biggest club,†says creative director Sol Eugenio, who took charge of the set-up together with Ivan Alcaraz. “Our goal is to transport you into another dimension.â€
“Since electronic-dance music is very futuristic, we utilized industrial materials. I would describe the design as out-of-this-world, very alien, combined with underwater world elements. But we didn’t want to overwhelm the entire venue with the props. These are just minimal, because the main attraction is the stage, which is one of the best-designed stages I’ve ever seen,†adds Eugenio, whose team took three days to assemble the design and set-up.
Party-goers are encouraged to arrive at 6 p.m. so that they can experience the “Dreamland effect.†As a teaser, they will have to navigate a specially-made tunnel or portal before stepping into Dreamland and dancing the night away.
Drinks are pegged at a friendlier club price and not at a hotel price, organizers added.
Tickets are available at The Ayala Customer Service Counter and at the Waterfront Concerts & Events Counter. (FREEMAN)
