CEBU, Philippines - Do you want a college scholarship, travel abroad and sing?
International award-winning University of the Visayas Chorale (UVC) has once again opened its doors to students who have the talent for singing.
Potential singers who are interested to mold their talents and at the same time pursue a college degree can head to the UV Music Room, second floor of the Administration Building of UV main campus along Colon St., Cebu City on April 8 to 12.
Preliminary auditions will be conducted by assistant choir master Rodolfo Denolan and the final audition which also serves as the scholarship exam will be conducted by UVC’s choir master herself Anna Tabita Piquero.
Students may be fresh high school graduates from the school, other schools or out of school youth planning to enrol at the university.
Those who will pass the audition can look forward to a college scholarship, be part of an internationally award winning chorale group, travel, and reap numerous awards and recognition.
The University of the Visayas Chorale participated in the Triduum during the canonization of St. Pedro Calungsod in Rome, Italy. They also competed and won 3 gold prizes in Rimini, Italy and 1 bronze trophy in Tolosa, Spain.
The group is the CCP National Choral COmpetition Gold awardee, a two-peat champion in MBC NAtional choral competition in year 2009 and 2011 and 2nd prize in 2010 at the same competition.
In 2007, UVC bagged the bronze and silver prizes in Busan, Korea and in 2009, they dominated the Tomohon. Indonesia competition and carted three gold prizes.
UVC also holds the distinction of being the only Filipino choir to perform during the World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia in 2008.
