Guam choir group to sing this Sunday’s Mass at Calungsod chapel
CEBU, Philippines - The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School’s honor choir – the Concentus Chamber Singers will serve as choir during this Sunday’s 9AM Holy Mass at the Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod in SM Seaside Complex at the South Road Properties, Cebu City.
The group consisting of Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass- has grown to 43 members strong since its inception two years ago. Concentus is the Latin word for “harmony.†The members not only pledge to develop blending their voices, but also aim to work on their school’s performing arts productions and in community service projects.
In May 2011, the choir opened for the “Yale Alley Cats†Concert. In December 2011 and December 2012, they sang Christmas carols at the Micronesia Mall, Tumon Sands Plaza, and Bank of Guam. Most recently, they opened for “The CompanY,†a premier vocal group from the Philippines, for a fundraising concert. They performed a concert/play about the life of St. Pedro Calungsod at the Sister Roberta Center in Tamuning, Guam last February 10, 2013.
STA Concentus Chamber Singers are visiting Cebu to present a concert/play about the life of St. Pedro Calungsod together with the students of Don Bosco Technology Center and St. Scholastica Academy on February 26, 2013.
The group’s choir director, Mr. Norman Babia, is a Cebuano and a graduate of Don Bosco Technical High School (currently called Don Bosco Technology Center) in Labangon. He currently is the Music and Technology Director at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School.
