CEBU, Philippines — Residential developers in Central Visayas are shifting their gears in design, marketing approach to meet the preference of younger home buyers.

This is one the highlights that will be tackled in the upcoming Subdivision and Housing Developers Association Central Visayas’ (SHDA-CV) “Housing Summit” on September 17, 2024 at Nustar Resort and Casino Ballroom.

In an interview with SHDA-CV President Harold Vince See, he said millennials (born from 1981 to 1996) and Gen Z (born from 1997 to 2012) are next biggest buyers of residential units. It is even starting right now.

Carrying the theme “Building Tomorrow’s Homes for the Emerging Generation,” the summit expects to gather 80 residential developers from the region to share knowledge, and explore new opportunities and trends.

See who is also the business development manager of PrimeHomes Development Corporation, said that developers are learning double-time how to effectively communicate with the rising number young buyers—learning their language and preferences, as well as whims in home designs, among others.

These groups (Millennial and Genz) represent the majority of current and future homebuyers, and their preferences are shaping the housing market in significant ways.

The Summit will bring in renowned designers and architects to update home builders with the new trends of housing design that catches the attention of young buyers.

During the Summit stakeholders will also know the government’s plans and programs related to housing with the participation of key agencies like the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD), local government unit (LGU) executives, among others.

According to  SHDA-CV Governor Anthony Noel one of the primary objectives of the summit is to facilitate continuous learning among developers.

Promoting Industry Efficiency and Affordability

Another key focus of the summit is to explore new technologies and innovative business practices that can make the housing industry more efficient.

Noel emphasized that by adopting these advancements, developers can reduce construction costs and deliver more affordable housing to their clients.

The ultimate goal is to grow the industry and increase the availability of quality homes, thereby addressing the ongoing housing shortage, Noel added.

He also addressed the importance of infrastructure in supporting the growth of housing developments.

During the summit, government executives will discuss the status of various infrastructure projects, including large-scale initiatives critical to the success of housing developments.
