Take advantage of what you have!!!

INTEGRITY BEAT - Henry Schumacher - The Freeman

Every second you spend being pissed off about what you don’t have is a second you spend not taking advantage of what you do have.

And over time, what you have today — youth, health, family, friends, your dog — will disappear, and you’ll be pissed at yourself for not taking advantage of it when you had it.

That’s one of the great lessons I’ve learned the hard way in life. Here are six others with which you could establish a complete practice to achieve a conscious and peaceful life:

1. It is better to work smart than to work hard. But you won’t accumulate enough data to work smart if you don’t work hard initially. When you don’t know what you are doing, you better work your ass off. Then, you’ll know what works and what doesn’t work for you, and you’ll be able to make more efficient decisions.

2. You are how you react to what happens to you. You don’t choose your feelings. Feelings are autonomous responses. You can repress, suppress, anesthetize, and project them onto others, but in the end, you are a person who has an autonomous feeling response. You are not what happens to you or your feelings about it but the way you react to what happens to you.

3. Thoughts are tools: with them, you can build or destroy. The problem is that most of the time, we use them the wrong way. Understanding this will change your life completely: visualize your thinking as a hammer. The logical thing to do is to use it to drive a nail (find a solution to your problems), not to hit your fingers with it (torture yourself, thinking you are useless). Start using your hammer correctly, and your life will change completely.

4. Wealth is not money; it’s an exchange of value. Suppose you understand this and are still broke. In that case, it is probably due to one of three reasons: 1) you are not generating enough value, 2) you are not distributing correctly, or 3) you are not monetizing properly. If your problem is number one, offer more value. If your problem is number two, find the right channel to reach the right market. And if your problem is number three, think about this: “If you don’t charge for what you do, you will eventually stop doing it.” And that’s very selfish because if what you do is in enough demand to charge for it and make it sustainable, it’s because it’s useful. And if you go bankrupt, the people who need what you do will be left without it.

5. You attract what you want by being who you are. If you want to attract great things to your life, you have to be great. Do you want a great partner? Be a great person. Do you want a great job? Be a great professional. Do You want great friends? Be a great friend. You attract what you are, and if you don’t like your life, start by changing yourself.

6. Don’t let them belittle you. People will try to minimize your value with malicious comparisons like “You are smart, but you are not Nikola Tesla,” “You are beautiful, but you are not Taylor Swift,” “You don’t write badly, but you are not Brandon Sanderson,” “You are doing well, but you are not Warren Buffett.” You are you, and there has never been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. Life will pay any price you ask and go for it because you are worth much more than you think!

In conclusion, let’s go back to the beginning of my article:

Every second you spend being pissed off about what you don’t have is a second you spend not taking advantage of what you do have. Please be awake and in touch with what is going on around you. May that awareness guide you, including your own personal agenda.

Please learn from my above lessons and take advantage of what you have! I wish you luck and look forward to your responses. Email me at [email protected]
