CCCI presents the essentials for Business One Stop Shop

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) took a proactive step towards fostering a business-friendly environment by organizing an insightful seminar on the essential aspects of the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) and its electronic counterpart, e-Boss on December 18, 2023, as a strategy to strategy to equip businesses with the necessary knowledge for the upcoming 2024 renewals. Attended by representatives from various enterprises, the seminar aimed to address concerns related to business renewals and streamline the processes involved.

Key government agencies, such as the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), played pivotal roles by sharing the latest statutory developments and government mandates related to business registration and renewals. The DILG shed light on the legal foundation of the Business One Stop Shop, anchored in RA 11032, an act promoting the ease of doing business and the efficient delivery of government services.

Cognizant to the mandate where local government units and government agencies in facilitating ease in doing business which include but not limited to processing and licensing systems, it also fosters online submission of business permit applications, digital payment options, and the issuance of electronic permits, licenses, or clearances.

Furthermore, DILG emphasized the standardization of documentary requirements, steps, and processing times associated with business registration, with a major focus on the establishment of e-Boss, where all transactions are efficiently processed. Processing times are categorized based on transaction complexity, ranging from 3 days for simple transactions to 20 days for highly technical ones.

Complementing this initiative, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) emphasized the importance of expediting the processing period for permit applications to three days, whether the transactions are simple or complex, in alignment with the BFP Revised Citizen Charter. The Joint Memorandum Circular 2018-01 further solidifies this commitment by mandating the use of preformatted forms for building permit applications across all cities and municipalities in the Philippines.

The collaboration between government agencies and the private sector is pivotal in creating a conducive business climate. As they work hand in hand to streamline business processes, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry is optimistic that this synergy will contribute to a thriving business hub in Cebu, making it a focal point for growth and innovation in the country.

Looking ahead, the CCCI has its sights set on a series of seminars in 2024, continuing to empower businesses with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate an ever-evolving business landscape.
