CEBU, Philippines — Colliers Philippines’ head for research Joey Roi Bondoc, who was one of the panelists, emphasized the critical need for government investments in anti-flood projects.
Bondoc highlighted that major urban centers in Cebu are experiencing frequent flooding even with brief rainfall, underscoring the urgency for immediate action.
“Infrastructure spending will be a major plank of Smart City development in the Philippines,” Bondoc said.
Colliers Philippines believes that projects such as expressways and bus rapid transit (BRT) Systems will play a major role in enhancing the quality of master-planned communities in the Philippines, including Cebu.
“Natural disaster resiliency will also be important in future-proofing master-planned communities,” Bondoc explained.
“In our view, anti-flood projects are important in raising the viability and resiliency of integrated communities. These projects will truly enhance the live-work-play lifestyle in townships.
“National and local governments should work together in constructing these vital projects,” added Bondoc.
