CEBU, Philippines —  RGC International, the maker of Uratex foam and mattresses opened its first “sleep lab” (sleep laboratory) in Cebu, as it catches up the changing market interest post-pandemic, which prioritizes comfort and total wellbeing.

Uratex recently inaugurated its 24th showroom in the country, and the second in Cebu at Belmont One Building, Calajo-an, Minglanilla, Cebu.

“More people are now spending time at home, and comfort is important,” said Dino Medina, RGC Group business unit head and director for retail and eCommerce.

While the 53-year-old foams and mattress expert is also investing in an extensive online shopping platform, it also continues to expand its physical presence, this time transforming its stores to experiential destinations, like the “sleep lab” concept.

Consumers are allowed to experience the feeling of comfort with their choice of mattresses and foams right in the store, with right and conducive environment for resting.

According to Medina, the company understood that getting enough sleep is a luxury these days and an important part of self-care.

With increasing demands both at work and home, it has become more essential to keep one’s mind and body sound and healthy. A good quality, comfortable mattress can make all the difference in getting that much-needed relaxation, whether it is in the form of afternoon siestas or a full eight hours of sleep, he added.

Known as the country’s sleep specialist, Uratex is investing more in meeting the different consumer preferences these days, and it is poised to convert other existing stores to a total experiential showrooms.

The Minglanilla showroom also has 12 sections that showcase a wide range of products from mattresses, pillows, foldables, sofa beds, and monoblock furniture, among others.

Established in 1968, Uratex has become the country's largest manufacturer of commercial and automotive polyurethane foam products.

Uratex is the flagship brand of an even larger umbrella organization of the Group, namely; RGC Textile Manufacturing Corporation; Roberts Automotive and Industrial Parts Manufacturing Corporation: and Inoac Philippines, a joint venture with Inoac of Japan, and the RGC Foam Group composed of Polyfoam-RGC International Corporation , Multiflex RNC Philippines, Inc., and Polyflex Industries.

The Group's foam business accounts for 70 percent of the company's total portfolio.
