Gadgets that help disinfect our car’s interior

The other week, I was talking about how to clean your car inside out. This time, as promised, we will be checking two gadgets that are in the market already that claim to help disinfect the interior of your car. One is a very unique invention that emits chemicals through smoke while the other one simply uses light to kill those pesky microbes.

Micotex Bac-To-Zero

The first on our list is the Microtex Bac-To-Zero Sanitizing System by Halden Galway Int’l Corporation. This Sanitizing Machine is quite revolutionary as it uses mist to disinfect.  It sort of reminds me of the smoke machines that the barangay uses to kill those dengue carrying mosquitos and is quit similar in operation.

The Bac-To-Zero machine claims to eliminate bad odor, germs and bacteria in one simple step and that is to mist the interior of your car for a period of time. The machine that will need the company’s proprietary sanitizing and disinfecting chemical to work, creates a mist that envelops the entire interior pf the vehicle, removing odors right in its source.

The disinfecting agent eliminates bacteria present in your car’s interior, attacking them and slowly breaking down its chemical composition and starving it of the necessary oxygen, stopping the bacteria from multiplying. This is done through the air intake of the Evaporator/Blower assembly of your car’s Airconditioning System.

Microtex claims that this sanitizing agent underwent stringent testing in the numerouslaboratories in Malaysia including SGS and TUV.  Test results showed a 99.99% reduction in a pre-cultured Staph, Salmonella, E.Coli and P.Aeruginosabacteria after 10 minutes.  They have all the test reports and certifications to back it up.

With all my research done, I purchased a unit from Microtex PH and tested in on my car.  I noticed that after the 10 minute misting operation, the car smelled cleaner. It is a must, I should say, next to cleaning your car’s interior and regularly servicing your AC unit.

UV Sanitation Light Bar

Hospitals have embraced ultraviolet (UV) lights as a cleaning tool for years, using large, industrial-grade machines to decontaminate rooms. Now, smaller versions of UV sanitation lights are available to consumers looking to clean pretty much anything, from phones to toilet seats to sofas.

There are three main types of UV rays which are UVA, UVB, and UVC.  UVC rays are used in car’s interior as these have the shortest wavelength, and therefore have the highest energy. These are capable of killing pathogens left in your car for a required period of time.

UVC Germicidal lamps

UVC Germicidal lamps are just actually lighting fixtures that are installed in the ceiling of your car temporarily, allowing it to attack and minimize unwanted microbes inside the car.

UV light is harmful to humans when exposed to it for long periods of time.  This is why these gadgets have to be operated with caution.

These lamps (these look like 40watts fluorescent bulb assemblies) are equipped with UVC sanitation tubes that are easily hooked on the ceiling of your car or placed upside down on your car seats.  It comes with a remote control with a digital timer for ease of operation.

Don’t forget that these gadgets aid in disinfecting and should not be used solely as a process of cleaning your car’s interior.  I believe that a Bac-To Zero machine will not work well with a dirty, unserviced airconditioning system. That I am sure off.
