CEBU, Philippines — Just like buying sachet mobile loads, money transfer, bills payments can now be availed of in neighborhood sari-sari stores, as Smart Padala by PayMaya launches its flagship stores that act as “digital hubs” across the country, Cebu as one of the pilot cities for its roll out.
This move is meant to intensify the push to provide more digital financial services to the countryside.
Together with Cebu roll out, Smart Padala flagship stores are also opened in Quezon Province, Pangasinan, Baguio, Bicol Region, Aklan, Cagayan De Oro, Bukidnon and Metro Manila.
Smart Padala by PayMaya, the country’s largest mobile domestic remittance network, has transformed its centers into digital hubs that are not only capable of processing sending and receiving remittance transactions, but also bills payment, PayMaya Add Money transactions, as well as mobile prepaid reloading services.
Soon, these centers will also be able to accept PayMaya QR as a mode of payment for day-to-day purchases of customers.
With these hubs in place, Filipinos no longer need to commute to the city center to pay their bills, send or receive money, buy load, or even add money to their PayMaya accounts - they simply have to go to the sari-sari store or Smart Padala center nearest to them, said Shailesh Baidwan, President of PayMaya.
With more than 27,000 Smart Padala agents in the Philippines, Smart Padala has become household name for domestic remittance among customers, and a viable source of income for micro and small entrepreneurs in every corner of the country.
Through Smart Padala, Filipinos are able to send and receive remittance to and from their loved ones in the most convenient way, as these Smart Padala agents are usually in their community’s local sari-sari store, staying true to the brand’s tagline: “Padalapit lang.”
“Smart Padala by PayMaya centers all around the country provide crucial digital financial services to Filipinos where the traditional banking system are unable to reach them. We are excited to bring even more services to our customers as we continue to digitize and bring the ‘Padalapit lang’ experience that our customers have come to know over the years,” added Baidwan.
Smart Padala is the domestic remittance brand of PayMaya, the only financial technology company in the country that offers end-to-end payment solutions with the widest on-ground branch network. It is the first to give millions of Filipinos an e-wallet that allows them to pay cashless transactions at any time of the day, anywhere in the world, and from any device. JMD
