CEBU, Philippines — Today, business name registration tellers are going on a holiday, which means establishments will have to register their business names by themselves.
This after the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has declared June 19 as a Business Name Teller Holiday to encourage businesses to register online through the Business Name Registration System (BNRS) Next Gen website at https://bnrs.dti.gov.ph/.
However, for those who will be dropping by at the DTI office or in any Negosyo Centers, computers will be set up and a staff will teach those registering their business names on how to do it online.
DTI Cebu office said in a press statement that the BN Teller Holiday is aligned with the Ease of Doing Business Act of 2018 (RA 11032), which promotes zero-contact policy.
And while over-the-counter business registrations will not be happening today, DTI cashiers will likewise stop receiving and processing payments, instead transactions will be paid through GCash.
After the online registration and payment through GCash, applicants may then download and print their own business name registration certificate.
To further assist the public, DTI-Cebu is also initiating a free seminar today for bookkeepers and business registration service providers, among others. There will be two seminar sessions on how to register business name online with the DTI, one from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and another one by 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at DTI-Cebu Provincial Office along corner Osmeña Blvd. and Lapu-Lapu St.
Moreover, DTI will also be setting up a BNRS help desk, which will cater to clients from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, at the DTI head office BNR Support. Answers to frequently asked questions on business name registration are also available on the website.
