CHAMBER BEAT: CCCI ACAS Chamber Assessors’ Training

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — In line with its commitment and advocacies on industry-academe collaboration and workforce development, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry continues to promote the dual approaches of vocational education and training in addressing industry jobs-skills mismatch in the country through its Assessment, Certification and Accreditation Services (ACAS) Unit.

This March 27 at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, a ‘Chamber Assessors’ Training’ shall commence for the notable industry practitioners who were invited to be one of the panel assessors. This training will give focus on the process of the assessment and important details such as relevant questions, documents to look for and even scoring system.

The training will be facilitated by Marlon Valencia, the Business Research and Development Manager of the Center for Industrial Technology and Enterprise (CITE).

With the demand for workers trained on industry-formulated job profiles and curriculum, the Basic Qualification Certificate Assessment is conducted as one of the services under ACAS. Senior High School graduates shall be assessed by the Chamber especially for those who underwent Dual Education and Training with at least 800 hours of immersion in the industry, with TESDA certification and with a bundle of competencies under a job profile identified by the industries.

In order to measure the ability attained by the students, the BQC Assessment is conducted prior to their graduation. A pool of Assessors per Industry Cluster will assess, evaluate and deliberate whether the graduates are competent to deliver the bundled competencies. These are industry practitioners who have in-depth knowledge and experience in their respective field.
