CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, thru its flagship project – the Cebu Business Month, consistently aims to inspire, promote and grow businesses through innovation in tourism, entrepreneurship and ICT/BPM this year.
Top caliber speakers lined up for Tourism Innovation Forum
On June 14 at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, Cebu Business Month 2018 set a lineup of top caliber speakers for its Tourism Innovation Forum.
Aligned with the CBM 2018 theme “Innovate Cebu”, the Tourism Innovation Forum is organized through the partnerships between CCCI, Cebu Provincial government, Cebu City government, and DOT.
The event intends to convene guests and participants from the local government units, hotels, resorts and restaurants, tour operators, industry associations, and industry sectors to share knowledge on the best practices and trends on the area of tourism.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Undersecretary Benito Bengzon Jr. will be gracing the forum as a keynote speaker. DOT Usec. Bengzon will also present DOT updates and directions for 2018 while DOT Region 7 Director Shalimar Hofer Tamano will provide a special message on the said forum.
The powerful lineup of speakers also includes Janet Tan-Collis, president of the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers, on the topic of meetings, incentives, conventions, and events.
Christine Ann U. Ibarreta, director of sales and marketing of the Golden Phoenix Hotels and president of the Hotel Sales and Marketing Association, will explore trends in the hospitality industry.
Teodoro del Mundo Jr., chairman and chief executive of EON, will share tips on crisis management, such as how to manage the aftermath of crisis situations.
Heherson Cheng “Jason” Tengco, head of accounts and strategy of VYGR Voyager Innovations Inc., will talk about how digital has transformed travel information dissemination and how technology has provided even the unbanked and uncarded access to online travel booking.
Cesar Mario O. Mamon, chairman and president of Enchanted Kingdom, will share his knowledge on amusement parks and attractions.
Josephine F. Costales, chairman of Costales Nature Farms, will talk about the development of farm tourism in the Philippines and the best practices of her company.
Robby Alabado, director for medical and wellness tourism of the DOT, will present about medical tourism.
“The Tourism Innovation Forum aims to share a common platform for the tourism industry stakeholders to network, interact, and discuss issues or concerns and share relevant information and best solutions for the continuous growth and development of the tourism industry throughout the country,” said CBM 2018 Tourism Chairman Edwin Vincent Ortiz, president of Evo Ventures Inc. Group of Companies.
Regular registration fee is pegged at P1,000 inclusive of certificate of attendance, morning and afternoon snacks, buffet lunch, and conference kit.

CBM 2018 Innovation Summit Conference and Expo set on June 19-20
CCCI’s CBM 2018 Innovation Summit Conference and Expo is all set on June 19 to 20 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. Stakeholders from different industries will gather together to reinforce the ecosystem that supports enterprise development and increases innovation capabilities of micro, small, and medium enterprises.
The Innovation Summit Conference and Expo is one of the highlights of the CCCI’s CBM 2018 this year. This event is in partnership with Cebu Provincial Government and Cebu City Government.
Policy makers, business sector representatives, members of the academe, inventors or innovators, and professionals from innovation centers and other business support institutions will share their knowledge in providing the process of opportunities and strategies for inclusive growth and sustainability of Cebu’s businesses.
The Conference will feature a compendium of high-powered speakers ready to share their inspiring stories, experiences, best practices, and strategies on various topics, such as government support to science, technology and innovation, innovative solutions to social challenges and community development, creative innovation, and adopting technology to accelerate change and move businesses forward.
“This event provides unique and timely opportunities for sectors to foster a culture of entrepreneurship through technology and innovation,” said Benedict Que, CBM 2018 overall chairman and president of Golden Prince Hotel & Suites.
Also, the Expo, a venue to showcase innovative services and products and to do on-site business matching, will open on June 19 with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon M. Lopez and the Department Of Science & Technology Secretary Fortunato Dela Peña as the guest of honor.
A total of 128 exhibitors from different sectors and industries have already confirmed to gather at the Expo. They are members of the Philippine Franchise Association and Hotel Resort Restaurant Association of Cebu, real estate firms, and ICT/BPO companies.
Karl De Pio, chairman of the Innovation Summit Expo, said that one of the things to look forward to is the special setting of the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation that will display Cebu’s furniture and accessories and put up a Creator’s Market.
Registration fee for the Innovation Summit is P3,000. The CCCI offers a group rate of P15,000 for six persons. Regular exhibition rate is P25,000 per 2m x 3m.
