CCAP confirms BPOs hiring senior high graduates

CEBU, Philippines — The Contact Center of the Philippines (CCAP) confirmed the high interest of outsourcing companies to hire senior high graduates.

“A lot of BPO firms are hiring senior high school graduates already," said CCAP board of director Dan Reyes in his recent visit to Cebu.

The first batch of senior high school graduated this year following the implementation of the K to12 educational system.

In Cebu, at least 10 thousand senior high graduates in Cebu City are likely to get jobs in call centers.

Reyes said most BPO companies are opening their doors to these young graduates.

According CIB.O managing director Wilfredo Sa-a Jr., these 10 thousand graduates may be tapped by call center companies as most of them are already capable of handling basic call center jobs.

Sa-a said senior high school graduates can be employed in a call center company, at the same time pursue their college education.

In 2016, CCAP introduced the Contact Center Services (CCS) curriculum in support of the government's K to 12 program.

CCS was developed in 2013 by a CCAP technical working group and was originally designed for the 18-hour near hire training program of TESDA.  When the Enhanced Basic Education Law of 2013 (Republic Act 10533) was enacted, CCS was included in the Senior High School curriculum. 

Seeing that the Senior High School will need a more comprehensive curriculum, CCAP expanded the subject to an average of 600 hours per semester fit the new education requirement.
