The Germans have landed

German car maker, Volkswagen,  has officially opened its second dealership in the country at the North Reclamation Area, Cebu City.  Iconic Dealership, Inc., the company tasked to handle the brand in the Metro, inaugurated the Showroom and Service Facility last September 26, 2014. The event  was attended by top executives from both Iconic Dealership, Inc. and Automobile Central Enterprise, Inc., the company that handles the distributorship in the country, privileged  guests from the Visayas and the media.

During the media conference, Automobile Central Enterprise, Inc. president, JP Orbeta, expressed how happy and excited they are to finally open the facility in Cebu after feeling the market for almost a year.  “It’s always hard when you’re starting up. We informally introduced Volkswagen in Cebu early this year with good results and we will still continue to study the market and how we want it to work out.  But given the popularity of  Volkswagen, we are very confident and we have positive expectations about the brand. Volkswagen is an iconic brand,  a lot of us kids before were brought to school  in one. I certainly learned how to drive in one, it’s something very universal.”  Orbeta added that the absence of the Volkswagen Brand in the Philippines for more than a decade has not lost it’s being famous. “The logo is very identifiable,” he said.

Orbeta, when asked about the game plan for Volkswagen in the growing and competitive automobile market in the Philippines, answered, “We want to democratize German engineered cars with much more reasonable price points.”

Iconic Dealership general manager, Tito Solomon,  reiterated that the opening of the 2nd VW dealership in Cebu was just plain logical. “After Manila, 2nd choice is always Cebu.   It even outpaces Manila in terms of GDP, it’s just but logical,” he added.  Solomon stressed that Cebu is a city with a large number of entrepreneurs and this is what the VW  brand caters to.

Joerg Andrischock, general manager for Volkswagen AG,  stressed that the brand’s aim is to be the best in customer satisfaction. “We have always been about quality and not quantity.”

The Iconic Brand has made a comeback and with it comes it’s highly desirable model, the Volkswagen Golf GTI.  Volkswagen, which became a Global household brand  in the 1960s and 1970s has chosen a well established partner in Ayala Group of Companies.  Ayala Group has an excellent  track record distributing both Honda and Isuzu Cars in the Philippines.  With the partnership of the two premier corporate brands, the percentage for success has never been higher.
