Aussie embassy showcases products in local retail chain

CEBU, Philippines - The Australian Embassy has partnered with the Metro Retail Stores Group to introduce Australian products to the Philippines, increasing the choice of imported products, aside from the locally-produced goods available to Filipino consumers.

Market Australia, a three-week food and beverage festival, aims to bring into the country the ‘clean, green and safe’ food and beverages made from the foreign country, says Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Bill Tweddell.

On the other hand, the Metro Retail Stores Group lauds the joint venture with the embassy, says its president and chief operating officer Eduardo Ponce, adding that the company is constantly open to supporting and exploring new Australian products.

Ambassador Tweddell said “we have a pristine growing environment for our livestock and produce. A clean environment ensures that only the freshest and best quality products are produced.”

He also adds Australian companies adapt production processes that are environment-friendly and sustainable and are strictly regulated ensuring high quality standards.

Market Australia puts up educational product boards in various Metro stores, allowing its shoppers to know more about Australian products such as wines, cheese, meat and fresh produce.

The festival started on March 13 and will run through April 6 in six Metro Supermarkets nationwide: Market! Market! in Taguig City, Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa City, Marquee Mall in Pampanga, Ayala Center in Cebu, Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo, and Super Metro at The District Northpoint in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.  (FREEMAN)
