The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Singapore Airlines (SIA) recently turned over a check to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) worth PHP 2 million which was generated from contributions by its staff following an earlier donation of the same amount made by the SIA Group in November.

Immediately after typhoon Yolanda struck last year, the Airline turned over used blankets and cash worth Php 2 million to PRC. In support of the rebuilding efforts, the SIA and SilkAir Staff in the Philippines and Singapore have also taken it upon themselves to make a contribution, matching that of the airline.

SIA Manila and SilkAir Cebu and Davao have foregone their respective staff Christmas parties and, along with personal contributions, raised a total of P450,000.

In Singapore, fundraising activities spearheaded by members of the SIA Community Service Club (CSC), the Cabin Crew Club for Community Care (5Cs) raised more than P 1.5 million, thereby bringing the total staff contribution to more than P 2 million. (FREEMAN)
