Insurance firm inaugurates new offices

CEBU, Philippines - British life insurer Pru Life UK, which has domestic presence here in Cebu, recently inaugurated its new Mica branch offices to better accommodate its growing number of clients.

Mica branch is now moved to and now open for business at the ground and 10th floors of Apple One/Equicom Tower at the Cebu Park District. Established in 1997, Mica is among the pioneer branches of Pru Life UK in the Philippines.

The company currently has two branches in Cebu. Apart from the Mica branch, it is also operating the Blue Pearl branch here.

Mica branch manager Jaime Barba said in a press release that their new location complements the consistent development of the branch.

“It is our goal to sustain and even elevate the standard of service we provide our clients as we grow each year…and so we constantly look for ways to bring convenience to them, and we believe our new branch quarters will help us achieve this,” Barba said.

Barba also pointed out that their presence in the city has allowed them to partner with more Cebuanos in planning their futures. “Pru Like UK’s suite of products allow us to provide financial protection and wealth accumulation options to our clients, and make us actively involved in the mission to take the risk out of people’s lives,” he added.

Pru Life UK is a subsidiary of the British financial services giant Prudential PLC. It is considered to be the pioneer and current market leader of  unit-linked or investment-linked life insurance products.

It is also one of the first insurance companies approved to market US dollar denominated unit-linked policies in the Philippines. Officials clarified that Pru Life UK is a life insurance firm and is not engaged in the business of selling pre-need plans.

Immediate funding

Top executives also said Pru Life UK’s charitable arm called Prudence Foundation has committed to provide immediate funding amounting to more than P4 million to help uplift the living conditions of affected families, particularly in Cebu and Bohol.

They said this is their way to give back to communities in which their company operates and a response to the devastation brought about by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that shook Central Visayas last October 15.

According to Pru Life UK president and chief operations officer Antonio de Rosas, they are hoping that this initiative will contribute in helping those affected to rebuild not just their homes but also their lives.

“We aim to help create a renewed hope among the members of the community as they recover from the disaster’s aftermath. Through our contribution, we extend our support to our brothers and sisters in the region as they display the resilience and strength of  the Filipino spirit,” de Rosas said in a statement.
