CEBU, Philippines -  Apart from being popularly branded as the hub for original local independent music in Cebu, The Outpost eyes to be known as an ideal destination for both rock music and food for dining.

This was shared by The Outpost managing partner Kaloy Uypuanco who revealed that the rock music hub envisions itself to be a real restaurant and bar where families and friends can dine out and celebrate occasions such as birthdays, weddings, parties and the like.

He said that the bar will be formally relaunched as a diner and grill house by September.

They will also officially introduce its new menu that is composed of Filipino home-style dishes such as pork belly, blue marlin, and chorizo de bungkag.

He added that The Outpost Ribs that will be priced from P250 to P300 shall be made available next month.

“A lot of people do not know that we also serve sumptuous meals which are mostly for dinner. We want us to be known as a place where you can come to eat and jam with the live bands. We want you to enjoy the food and the music along with the homey vibe, relaxing ambience and friendly staff of The Outpost,” Uypuanco stated.

He cited that they will still serve the same menu that the bar has been known for. It includes a variety of pica-pica dishes, appetizers, main course meals, pizza, snacks, burgers, silogs, beverages, liquor and beer.

Their cheapest dish is the barbecue that is sold at P10 per piece while the most expensive meal which is the sizzling bulalo is priced at P299.

The Outpost also boasts of using environment-friendly recycled products such as tables, cymbals, drum sticks and wood.

They even found the used electric meter covers of the Visayas Electric Company useful to plate their soup dishes such as larang and pochero that are priced at P190 and P280 respectively and the so-called VECO rice bowl meals that can serve two persons and are priced at P180.

Uypuanco said that their long-term goal for The Outpost is geared towards opening a new branch and opening itself to the public for franchise.

He added that with the relaunching as a resto bar, they also plan to be open for lunch soon.

He further noted that for years since it was opened in 2006, the bar has been taking responsibility to market musicians and make sure they will be known in the industry.

He, however, clarified that The Outpost will still stay as a music hub where local and international bands mostly play.

“The Outpost was built through music. Our edge is still the music and we will keep that edge for long. With this relaunch, we want to be a dining rock club wherein you can enjoy both the nightly schedule of live music while dining with your loved ones,” he concluded.

It was last December 2012 that the refurnished bar was reopened under new management and with a totally new look.

Located in Nivel Hills, Lahug, The Outpost is open from 6 PM to 2 AM from Mondays to Saturdays and from 4 PM to 1 AM on Sundays. /JOB (FREEMAN)
