Goldberry Suites & Hotel defining urban comfort

Maria Eleanor E. Valeros - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - “What’s with your bed?” This was a guest’s query when he booked for a good night’s sleep at the Goldberry Suites & Hotel recently.

The guest almost missed the flight to the capital, having indulged more hours in the comfort of the Penthouse’s memory bed.

So, if the experience is that memorable, the guest must have been sleeping on a Uratex senso memory bed. Developed using isotonic visco-elastic material, the memory bed gives guests a better night’s sleep as it reacts to body heat and molds itself to the shape of the body; thereby, providing maximum support for utmost  comfort.

This is just one of the features of Goldberry that warms up patrons to the idea of rebooking.

Considered very young as an economy hotel, having opened softly to the public in January of 2011 (days before the Sinulog festivity), Goldberry proves it is already a contender in most-sought-after hotels here for its high category rooms with Internet access.

In fact, it has been “home” to personalities like Gov. Chavit Singson and sportscaster Ron Nathanielsz, in relation to Lapu-Lapu City’s sports tourism events and the significant “Kadaugan sa Mactan.”

The Penthouse, alone, is a 100-square-meter haven of optimum comfort. It has a mini kitchen, a dining area; a fluffy, comfy sofa highlighting an Alba modular set specially done for Goldberry. Aside from an individual aircon system, most notable are the spic-and-span wooden flooring, the glass-walled shower room, the minimalist fixtures, and giant flatscreen television sets – one unit (42”) inside the main room and another one (60”) at the appointed living room.

Another thing noticeable is that the hotel has done away with carpets. It has shifted to wooden flooring, which is a lot easier in terms of upkeep and offers more value, aesthetics-wise.

Coast Pacific Manufacturing Corporation, which specializes in high-quality indoor and outdoor furniture, gives Goldberry an edge when it comes to its furniture. The furniture pieces are very design-oriented and functional at the same time to give the utmost comfort. There’s the Selecta loveseat and coffeetable on the 5th floor common terrace with its all-weather functionality. One can get either a sunny or a wet view of the Marcelo Fernan Bridge from there. It can either be a shimmering Mactan Channel or a hazy one from up there on rainy days. The scenario is: chillax whatever the weather bureau’s surface data is.

Further, it was learned that Goldberry is also preoccupied with social events. In fact, it seeks to establish itself as the best stop for wedding celebrations, birthday bashes, and Christmas corporate parties, offering a comfortable seating to around 150 persons. With this demand, Goldberry has finalized its plans to offer a world-class function room that can seat up to 1,300 celebrants.

Lately, it participated actively in the street party for the “Kadaugan sa Mactan.” General Manager Lilet S. Gallego disclosed that they partnered with Club Alchology and Tonyo’s Resto Bar in providing entertainment through multi-talented local bands. Food kiosks also dotted their parking space last April 27 for the convenience of spectators to grab something to munch on.

“This is just the third year that we’ve joined in the activities and we’ve noticed that because of the Rampada segment of the celebration, more and more people are drawn to Lapu-Lapu City, so we’re looking forward to a bigger and better event next year as we forge partnerships with more entertainment providers,” Gallego vowed.
