Brother: Print sector to continue to thrive

CEBU, Philippines - Even with the paperless generation at present, Brother International Philippines Corporation still remains bullish in the print industry with the continued and existing demand of the market for hard copies.

Evident to such optimism is its launching of its new inkjet model in the country, the MFC--J2510 Ink Benefit.

Glenn Hocson, country manager and director of Brother International Philippines Corporation, said that they recognized the modern age of printing and shared the same sentiment to reduce the carbon footprint at present.

“But somehow, we still need a hard copy. That’s when the role of printing enters,” he added.

Marking an evolution in Brother’s inkjet line-up, MFC-J2510 Ink Benefit is claimed to be the sleekest, smallest and fastest inkjet model to date with its contemporary look, small footprint and compact size.

Hocson said that the new inkjet model is designed for personal usage, small office and home office (SOHO) market and small and medium-sized businesses.

Unlike the traditional portrait format, MFC-J2510 Ink Benefit is the company’s first model to utilize landscape paper feeding and printing.

It has increased its print speed through a larger print head that features 1680 nozzles, printing up to 20 monochrome and 18 color pages per minute.

It utilizes the company’s high-yield and super high-yield ink cartridges which covers an approximate of 600 to 1200 pages respectively, enabling users to save due to lower cost per page and affordable printing.

The new product caters to automatic two-sided printing and has printing capability of up to A3 paper size.

Adapting to the modern trend in the printing industry, the six-in-one inkjet model allows wired and wireless networking and features both web and mobile connectivity to support a range of cloud printing and scanning features.

Other features include Android/iOS application, memory card reader, automatic document feeder and touch screen menu.

It also showcases the “low energy standby”, the company’s newest power saving technology that offers the lowest power consumption with approximately 0.04 watt power consumption when the power is off but the machine remains plugged in.

Brother International is also the first printing company in the country to use augmented reality for product demonstration purposes.

The company officially introduced its new technology in the Cebu market last Tuesday. It had already launched the product in Manila last January and will introduce it in Davao next month.

MFC--J2510 Ink Benefit is available at a suggested retail price of P16 950.

Further, Hocson noted that there is an average double-digit growth every year for Brother Philippines that could be attributed with the retail industry, consumer preference and demand for inkjet cartridges.

Another proof of the company’s bullishness in the market is its investment on the five manufacturing plants to be put up in a 15-hectare lot in Tanauan, Batangas.

One out of the five plants will start its operations on April of this year.

The plant will cater to the worldwide production of ink cartridges and will soon develop machines next year.

The five plants shall provide 5000 employment opportunities to Filipinos. The company initially hired 500 workers for the first plant.

Other manufacturing plants of Brother International in Asia are located in China that is responsible to produce inkjet machines, Taiwan for embroidery machines, Malaysia for thermal technology.

It also has two other plants in Vietnam, one in Hanoi for sewing machines and another located in Ho Chi Ming for the manufacturing of its laser products.

With its good presence in the region, Hocson said that Asia accounts better performance for the company in the global market.

Brother International has established its strong foundation with its multi-location outlets in Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Naga, and Angeles City. Its main branch is situated in Taguig City while its research and development center is based in Nagoya, Japan. (FREEMAN)
