CEBU, Philippines - The Spa and Wellness Association in Cebu (SWAC) is now working at unifying the entire wellness sector to be part of its membership base in order to benefit from the development programs of the organization.
This is to make Cebu “the” ultimate destination for wellness, said SWAC managing director Marissa Puche.
According to Puche, SWAC are encouraging wellness players, suppliers specifically in the seven dimension identified such as environment wellness, social (family related/relationship consultancy services), mental wellness service providers, spiritual, emotional and physical to align with the group, and actively participate in the development of the entire wellness sector in Cebu.
In this way, a spa outlet for instance, will soon be able to give diversified services to customers, including alternative therapies.
This convergence, is just part of the SWAC’s active stance to standardize the spa and wellness sector in Cebu, which is seen to have high potential for growth despite some concerns.
Puche said the group will also touch base with practicing psychologists or psycho-therapists and invite them to be part of the loop.
SWAC is one of the organizations that recently got a support from the PUM Netherlands, a developmental support program established by the Dutch government in partnership with the Employers’ Association Holland.
Recently, PUM sent Dutch expert on wellness Janny Beeuwkes-Berends to Cebu to teach players and wellness service providers to uplift or improve services and customer satisfaction.
Berends has been to Cebu twice to help SWAC members, conducting series of seminars and training including wellness for suppliers, massage therapists and facial therapists, training for spa owners and managers and prospective investors and livelihood training for 30 women from the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu under the care of Cebu Law Inc.
