In eight years, the annual Yonex-Sunrise Philippines National Open Badminton Championships has produced several men and women champions from the junior divisions up to the open class, supporting the development of Philippine badminton throughout the years.

The tournament will be held on January 26-28, 2007 at the PortSide Badminton Plaza, which is owned by Elenita de Manuel.

The competition started last December 2 and 3 in Pampanga, attracting close to 400 participants.

Launched in 1999, the ranking system is put up to recognize the efforts of the Asian players and motivate them to dish out their best games. It is also designed to serve as a medium for developing seedings in the annual championships.
