                    [Summary] => Employees of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) will climb eight volcanoes across the country to drum up the celebration of World Red Cross Day on May 8.


Sen. Richard Gordon, PNRC chairman, said the activity is meant to make Filipinos more aware of volunteerism and encourage them to join the PNRC.


"This message is in keeping with the World Red Cross Day theme of ‘Universal Assistance through Volunteering,’ which pays tribute to the millions of volunteers who help implement Red Cross missions," he said.

The movement will also honor millions of volunteers and members worldwide and the unsung heroes who died or were killed in the performance of their humanitarian mission.


For PNRC, the theme for this year’s celebration of World Red Cross Day is "More than 8 on May 8".
