Under Proclamation No. 1906, October was declared as National Indigenous Peoples' Month. We hope more will be done to inform our people, especially our children, about the simple yet sustainable life that we can learn from our indigenous brothers and sisters.

Under Proclamation No. 1211, Mrs. Arroyo said April 7, a Saturday, falls between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, thus could be declared a special non-working day to "give our people the full and uninterrupted opportunity to ponder on the significance of the Holy Week."

According to law, Bonifacio Day is observed as a regular holiday on Nov. 30 of each year. This year, however, it falls on a Thursday.
