There was no way I was going to miss the Philippine Animal Welfare Society’s (PAWS) “The Great Dog Dash: Year 3”  at the Eastwood Central Plaza last Sunday at 4 p.m.

[Summary] => I recently lost Greta, our nine-year-old Mini Schnauzer.

It happened all of a sudden. I was so happy when I found out that she was one month pregnant, but the following day she died.

I took Greta to the vet on a Wednesday just to confirm what we at home already knew. Greta had all the signs of a pregnant doggie. She was sleeping most of the time. She seemed to feel real hot and she was not eating as much as she used to.

That’s what happens when you get hold of the Ericsson W900i, the latest Sony Ericsson Walkman phone, you get a whole lotta good music. Think of it this way, the phone can store a total of 1,240 songs with 20 hours of playtime. And that’s just the music part.

Gorby, my now-famous Toy Poodle, was giving me a quizzical look the other day as I was listing down the names of people I have to give gifts to this year.

"It’s good you’re such an understanding doggie, you don’t ask me for anything," I say to him. "Except your favorite fried-chicken treat."

Gorby, the youngest of the bunch, has become my regular companion. He is small, doesn’t bark a lot and gets along quite well with every one and every other pet I meet. The older dogs Yuri, Greta and Boris have become used to the idea that they have to stay at home – at least I hope they have grown used to that.

We wonder how Britney’s dog Bitbit can hold her head up high with a white trash name like that. Well, at least she’ll have a dog therapist to walk her through her issues.

Growing up in a home where big dogs were the thing was the cause for my brother’s lack of interest in Gorby.

But let me tell you that Hans’ indif-ference to Gorby lasted only a month. The next time he came to visit us his opinion had changed.
