[Title] => LRTA increases passenger capacity
[Summary] => Transportation and traffic woes are expected to be eased along Taft and Rizal Avenues as the Light Rail Transit Authority targets a 100 percent increase in passenger capacity that would allow it to carry 80,000 passengers per hour for its Baclaran-Monumento line, LRTA Administrator Teddy Cruz said.
At present, its 32 trains carry an average of 31,500 passengers per hour in both directions during peak hours. Cruz said to achieve this target, the LRTA has started expanding and modernizing its systems, including the acquisition of new airconditioned trains.
