[Title] => Sandigan rejects Bejo’s plea
[Summary] => The Sandiganbayan has given the go-signal for the resumption of the forfeiture proceedings on the alleged P500-million ill-gotten assets of Tacloban City Mayor Alfredo "Bejo" Romualdez, brother of former First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos, and his wife Agnes.

The anti-graft court’s third division has denied the request of Romualdez, through his lawyer Enrico Fernando, to stop the trial and conduct a preliminary investigation into the case, which he said violated his "substantive right" to due process.

The anti-graft court granted the motion filed by Romualdez to dismiss the case lodged against him by Victor Domingo, the mayor’s co-chairman in the Regional Development Council.

In a 12-page resolution, Associate Justice Rodolfo Palattao, of the Sandiganbayan’s fourth division, said the Regional Trial Court, not the anti-graft court, should handle the case.
